The London Boroughs of Richmond upon Thames and Wandsworth have had a revolutionary shared staffing scheme in place since 2016 – a workforce of some 4,000 staff serving the two local authorities. We recognize the central role played by IT in ensuring effective Council services and successful change management initiatives. Our high performing corporate IT department comprises over 120 employees and oversees all aspects of IT across both councils. We also work with a range of external vendors to supplement and supplement our internal IT teams.
As a member of the corporate IT management team reporting directly to the IT Manager, you will be responsible for managing the councils annual IT budget of over £10m. Working closely with SSA’s finance department, you will maintain the highest levels of probity in all IT funding matters and ensure that the IT department stays within its operational budget. You will also oversee all IT-related contracts and be a key contributor to strategic sourcing and contract management discussions. In addition to your mission of operating IT finances, you will advise on the financial aspects of IT business proposals and major projects.
With a demonstrable background in finance and contact management, complemented by a strong appreciation of all things IT, you will be comfortable working with a variety of IT and finance professionals, from external vendors and Council officers at all levels while maintaining strong financial practices that can withstand rigorous scrutiny. . You will also benefit from opportunities to exchange ideas and best practices with peer groups made up of other qualified finance and IT professionals.
